According to the Malaysian Botechnology Corporation Sdn Bhd (BiotechCorp), the entire amount of approved investments in the malaysian biotechnology industry so far in 2009, improved 18% compared to the increase of foreign investments in 2008.
Total investments this year had already reached Euro 261 million, compared to euro 221 million for the whole of last year.
The increase in investments was boosted by international participation in BioNexus companies from 15 countries including Europe, United States, Britain, India, China, Japan and Hong Kong.
Bio Nexus status is a designation awarded to qualify biotechnology companies, making them eligible for privileges contained within the Bionexus companies, BiotechCorp has doubled the number of companies form 92 in 2008, from 42 in 2007. Todate, 104 companies have been awarded BioNexus status.
